Buckle Up! New Title Revealed

Look Alive! Misadventures in a School Bus is the title of my next novel, the second in the House of Girls series, which is due to be released this spring from Midwestern Books.

But first – Do you remember the snack cake ads from the dinosaur days of the early 1970s? The ad showed a family of four looking at a 9 x 13 cake pan with disdain, as if they would never be able to finish it all. This was never a problem for my family of five. Or the family of ten that birthed me. But according to the ad, the solution was a “snack cake” mix that would create a much smaller 8 x 8” cake. Whew! Problem solved. I recently found a modern snack cake you can whip up in a blender in minutes. With an entire orange, peel and all. And don’t tell anyone, but it’s “healthy-ish.” The recipe and simple instructions are on the blog Hungry Happens.

How does this relate to my 1966 novel? Just as baking adventures are usually sweet but sometimes lead to unexpected detours and hilarious mishaps, this novel promises to be a rollercoaster ride of misadventures and heartwarming moments.

Buckle up as we embark on a wild and uproarious journey with an eccentric dad, a long-suffering mother, and six daughters.

Watch for updates, the cover reveal, and preorder information. Rest assured. It’s not a 600-page tome but more like a delightful snack cake to enjoy leisurely.
